The Gold Miner's Daughter - Room Two

The Gold Miner's Daughter roomThis room is decorated in green, Philomena's favorite color. The gold miner's daughter is a woman with a lot of time and a lot of money on her hands. Needless to say - Papa did very well when he chose his spot and staked his claim not too far from this very place. Philomena loves to visit her friends and go shopping in the nearby towns of Auburn, Nevada City and Placerville. Many times she will take excursions to San Francisco to her special dressmaker or shoemaker; staying over at the Sheraton Palace for dinner in the atrium.

Many whisper that Philomena buys very expensive clothing for a young man - about the age of 10 or 12 years old. And it is rumored that the young man is tucked away at school somewhere on the east coast. Supposedly, Philomena was smitten with a handsome, rugged miner that she hoped to marry. Papa - absolutely did not approve! No one can say what happened to her lover. Did he abandon her? Had she been meeting him secretly in San Francisco all those years? Did Papa pay him off or send him packing - a terrible accident perhaps?
